Healthy and delicious Nira Moyashi

Bean sprouts garlic chives chinese Japanese recipes stirfry

Nira Moyashi is a simple Japanese dish of bean sprouts and garlic chives. The Chinese too have a similar dish but with some additional ingredients. My version of the dish is a fusion of both…with some personal touches.

It’s simple to cook and so nutritious, and goes well with any kind of Asian mains or even as a quick main of salad.

What you need:
1 bag of bean sprouts
1 bunch of garlic chives
salt
cooking oil
sesame oil
chilli flakes – optional

What to do:
1…I prefer the tails of the bean sprouts docked – just looks more appealing, so this step is optional. Otherwise, just rinse thoroughly and leave soaking in a bowl of water.
2…Wash the garlic chives thoroughly. Cut the roots off and the burnt tops (if any). Then cut the chives – about 5cm in length.

3…Heat cooking pan/pot with just a bit of cooking oil. When it’s warm, throw in the garlic chives and some salt. Stir-fry till the chives turn a bright green.
4…Drain the sprouts and add in. Salt and add chilli flakes as desired. Stir-fry for a few minutes till desired texture – it should still have a bit of crunch to it.
5…Add a dash of sesame oil to it as you turn off the heat. Stir through.

Tips…
...You can add some light soya sauce instead of using salt in step 4.
...this dish should be served immediately upon cooking.

What a basic easy dish that sounds delish - I love bean sprouts and anything garlic - this would be great with some fish or some beef

Thanks for posting

Thanks JK This dish is great with all kinds of meat and seafood, and also when served with plain steamed rice or fried rice.
