There’s no reason to watch anymore…

…but I still would – sigh… Sad, I know…
I only started watching MasterChef a few weeks back, when they already had households glued to the telly between 7 to 8pm – so I just had to see what the buzz was all about. I haven’t turned off since.
Like some of the top finalists, I thought it was unfair when three of the eliminated got a second chance. It was almost several steps backward for the finalists where they once again had to compete for the top places again.
I guess if I were the network/organiser/sponsors, I too would try to stretch out a series that has gained strong viewership, and has increasing popularity – particularly around rating season...?
I have (naturally) grown to like a few of the contestants more than others. Perhaps it’s their personalities; perhaps it’s the passion and creativity they have. Whatever it is, I have become their quiet supporter – with the occasional outburst(s) in the confines of my abode…
When Andre was eliminated, I was crushed. I thought he would make it. I like his creativity and how he tweaks conventional recipes to make it modern but not being too mod. Even Gordon Ramsay picked him to win, or to be in finals week.
So, I *needed* another to support – I picked Justine. We like the same patisserie
OK, besides that, from the few episodes I’ve seen, I think she’s good – though her style of cooking is not quite my style but I love her genuine passion for cooking. Naturally, I was really (sobbing!) sad when she was eliminated tonight.
I now hope Julie wins – just because… OK, she has genuine passion too, and I quite enjoy her home-style cooking. …but I think Poh and Chris might be the final two…

It’s a pity that you’re only as good as your last dish because I think some of the eliminated have more creativity, passion and skills compared with the final three… I guess it is after all a competition – using a win to your advantage…plus some luck…and perhaps favouritism…?

I've become endeared to Chris, just as I originally wanted Poh to win, but she's a little smug, whereas Chris's doesn't seem as arrogant to me anymore. I really want to go to his Beer restaurant. Julie's lovely, but she's a mother of three kids, how does she expect to run a restaurant and raise them at the same time?? Plus, her cooking perferences are just too ordinary for my tastes. Not that I'm after haute cuisine, but something more than home cooking done in a restaurant. I hope Chris wins, but I think it might be Poh. Hmmmm, could be Julie ... Might be Chris. The photo on smh.com.au oddly seems to favour Poh in the framing, which makes me wonder ...

Not too late, Trace
Good observation re. the article, Bryn.
Poh winning would make good business and marketing sense. I agree with you re. Julie -- although her winning might appeal to a larger demographic, so depends what their business/marketing objectives are.
So happy for Justine she got that gig with Matt Moran!
We'll know the last two standing in approximately 2 hours...

My husband is practically dancing around the house shouting 'Go Julie! Go Julie!' There was even mention of starting up a Julie Fanclub.
Can you guess that lamb and potatoes are his favourite dish?

Quite subjective, really...
Hi Sam...yea, Poh's seems to be a bit of a niche market but I think she will have recipes are less *shocking* -- she'll have to show (more of) that in the cook-off, I reckon.
Julie's vision of her cookbook is so clear, and gave out such a warm fuzzy feeling! That aside though, it's almost like 'Hmm...another cookbook on the shelf.' She may have to *dress up* her recipes a bit?
p/s...I love a good lamb and spuds roast too

I've got a funny feeling Julie might win. She was very lucky Donna Hay was judging. Gotta admit though her concept for her cookbook is a sure fire winner. It'd sell in droves, the Australian public would love it. Whereas Poh's is very niche.
Poh's got the haute cuisine art, Julie's got the rustic love.
I still wanna go to to Chris's beer restaurant. I wonder when he'll get that happening? I love that "Snout to tail, stout to ale" catch phrase!

Hmm...I've that same funny feeling too...
Yea, Chris' beer restaurant would be interesting -- not sure I'd go though....not my kind of food, and neither am I a beer drinker. I too love that 'Snout to tail, Stout to ale' title -- very catchy.
Poh's 'Food from Mars' is very apt too <lol>.
