Gluten-free low-GI nutritious natural high fibre protein rice-recipes

Wild Rice

... gluten-free and a good source of Manganese

… it is highly nutritious and is significantly higher in protein to other types of rice (including brown)

… when cooked it has a slight nutty taste and chewy texture

… cost per serve is quite high when compared to other rice

wild and brown rice with pearl barley...yum!

I usually cook it with brown rice (2:1 ratio) for cost effectiveness as well as to get a different texture – works beautifully! For a great side-dish, check out my recipe using wild rice.

Glass bean rice vermicelli noodles wakame salad appetisers

Summer is great! The beach and cocktails, and mangoes are in season! …but really, it can get too hot to cook. There’s only so much more heat my little pad can take in. Besides, salads and my eternal summer favourite of rice paper rolls, I’ve had to be more creative in creating meals that emitted as little heat as possible – that’s how Vermicelli Glass Noodles Salad with Wakame emerged. Easy, simple and full of nutrition – Enjoy

Seafood fish prawns scampi broth pasta Italian cooking

Pasta is a common word over here. It features so often that each time Poppy asks me what's for dinner (we chat online almost everyday), it happens to be pasta! She thinks I never have anything except pasta – thank goodness for this blog!

pasta osso-busco wine italian recipe shanks

I love my slow-cooker – as much as I love my breadmaker. It’s used regularly no matter what season it is because it’s such a fantastic feeling to have dinner ready by the time I am home.
